Serving more than 26 million passengers a year, Salt Lake City International Airport is the 21st busiest airport in the United States and the 70th in the world. With passenger traffic increasing in the past several years, an airport redevelopment program titled The New SLC was Implemented. This program was intended to replace the former terminals, some nearly half a decade old, with 2 brand new concourses to increase passenger traffic to up to 34 million a year. This airport redevelopment program is scheduled to be completed in 2024 with the old terminals demolished in 2020/2021.
Founded by the Mormons in 1847, Salt Lake City currently has a population of around 200,000 people, with popular skiing and outdoor recreational activities to the east. Alongside Salt Lake International Airport, Salt Lake City and the greater Salt Lake Area houses several regional and GA airports including: KBTF, KU42, and KTVY.
