Description

Chinggis Khaan International Airport is a brand new airport that was constructed in the city of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Chinggis Khaan International Airport replaced the old airport of Ulaanbaatar, which could not be further expanded and could only support limited runway operations due to its’ close proximity to mountains. Being opened in 2021, the airport has brand new state of the art facilities for passengers and is a great improvement for airport infrastructure in Mongolia, being named after the likeness of the former great Mongolian leader Genghis Khan. The site of the new airport is in Khoshigt Valley, a large barren grassland that is located south of Ulaanbaatar and is accessed by a new expressway built in the city.
