Description
This airport is located in the very north of Bavaria, near the city of Hof. It is surrounded by a typical low mountain landscape with rolling hills and many lakes.
From 1972, scheduled flights to Frankfurt and charter flights to numerous vacation destinations in southern Europe were operated from here. Due to the short runway (1480m), BAe 146 aircraft were used for this purpose.
The last scheduled flight to Frankfurt took place in 2012.
Today, the airfield is used for general aviation.
Directly next to the runway, the BMW company has built a test site.
In addition to the central taxiway, the airfield has several hangars, refueling facilities, a terminal and a tower.
